2025 Garden Coordinator
Position Description
Growing Roots is in search of a Garden Coordinator for the 2025 growing season! We are looking for someone interested in food sovereignty and community gardens to join us as the Garden Coordinator. Your primary responsibilities will be to keep our food production garden running smoothly and to work with volunteers at the Tracy City Community Garden.
Growing Roots is a grassroots nonprofit 501(c)3 with a mission to increase food access and community wellness on and around Tennessee’s South Cumberland Plateau. www.growingrootstn.org
Duration: Seasonal, Late Spring (immediate hire) through Fall Harvest (end of October 2025)
Time commitment: Negotiable. 20-30 hours per week.
Duties:
Tracy City Community Garden maintenance and care
- Watering
- Taking care of pests
- Harvest
- Preparing produce for distribution
- Reporting and assisting maintenance
Working with garden volunteers
Negotiable/additional
- Assisting with weekly Fresh Mess Market
- Checking in and supporting Growing Roots outpost gardens
- Supporting with newsletter and social media
Skills: Green thumb. People skills (working with volunteers). Initiative. Adaptability.
Compensation: $16 / hour + mileage
